We extend the warmest invitation to come to our regular debating championship to any team willing to spend several days in Moscow with the friendliest people you’ve ever met.

This year we expect to host up to 40 teams from Russia, CIS and beyond. We don't set any caps on the number of the teams from one university, debating society or country. However, we encourage N-1 rule for adjudication (this means that we'll be really happy if you bring at least one adjudicator with you). Although we have a good adjudication squad (some of them experienced debaters who have breaking at WUDC record), we would not like to find ourselves in a position of monopoly in judging. Moreover, our experience tells us that it's always better to have a lot of judges rather than wreck our necks in search of one 5 minutes before the round.

The tournament will be held in English and it will be in the British parliamentary format (WUDC style). However if you are not acquainted with the format don’t let that deter you from participating as we will arrange for a very clear briefing before the tournament. You can also read debating basics here. Students from Moscow universities have an extra option: they can join our weekly workshops either to learn what the debates are all about (novice workshop) or to improve their debating skills (advanced workshop) - for more information visit MGIMO Debate Club's website. So the only necessary precondition for coming to MGIMO in December is your desire to do that.

Teams from MGIMO will participate in the tournament but all of them are going to be swing teams, which means that none of them will progress into the Semi-finals.

Venue of the championship is MGIMO. It has really nice facilities both for debating rounds and for rest in between them. Meals will be available at MGIMO in various cafes and canteens (at your own expense). We will also organize free coffee-breaks.

For our guests we will help to arrange accommodation either in one of the nearby hotels or student hostels and dorms of other universities.

Motions will be announced 15 minutes before the round starts. For Semi-Finals and Grand Final preparation time will be 30 minutes.
