FINANCIAL INFORMATION

Our policy is to keep the cost of participation in Moscow Open as low as possible. We understand that different participants will have different financial capacity: some save on everything but cheap beer, others dine three times a day in the most gorgeous and expencive restaurants in the world.

Based on these principles, unless we find a really generous sponsor, the financial conditions are going to be as follows:

Participation fee:
  • for debaters from Moscow - 400 RUR per person (to be paid to the orgcomm at registration on the 1st day of the tournament)
  • for judges and teams from outside Moscow - no participation fee

Meals:

Free coffee-breaks (snacks, sandwiches, tea, coffee) + you can have a meal at your own expense in one of the numerous cafes in MGIMO

Accomodation:

We have a number of options at the moment - Hotel (on average 35$ person/night) or student hostel (about 20$ person/night) - all at your own expence. If we are lucky we'll have a limited number of places free of charge distributed on the first come-first served basis. We will also try to cater for the lovers of "crash" (i.e. staying at smb's apartement).

Moscow is believed to be a very expensive city to live. We will not dispute that. Instead, we would give you the "debater's price list":

  • beer (0.5 l): 20-50 RUR in the shop (70-150 RUR in a bar or restaurant)
  • average meal in a restaurant: 200 - 500 RUR
  • average McDonald's meal (Royal Cheeseburger, fries + Coke): 140 RUR
  • one metro or bus ride: 20 RUR (we recommend to buy tokens for 5-10 rides to save up to 10%)
  • 1 cup of coffee: 15 RUR in a coffee vending machine, 20 RUR in a student canteen, 40-150 RUR in a coffee shop (attn the Dutch: these coffee shops sell coffee, no weed)

NB: 1EUR = 44 RUR; 1$ = 30 RUR
